Electronic manufacturing Mexico: Giants of the industry

In Mexico there are at least 35 medium and large technology companies with production facilities, including LG, Foxconn, Samsung, HP, Motorola, Flextronics, Intel, Panasonic, Ericsson and Blackberry, among the leaders for their multimillion-dollar investments and a large number of factories.



The relevance of Mexico in the worldwide electronic manufacturing is attracting more investments of technological companies to the country. As the technological devices demand grow, such as screens, cell phones and computers, manufacturing companies are looking to expand their presence in territories where they already exist or reach new markets, which has benefited Mexico.

Promexico has located at least 35 medium and large companies with production plants in the national territory, of which 10 companies stand out due to their investments and number of factories, leading in the sector. These firms are Foxconn, LG, Samsung, Blackberry, Flextronics, Intel, HP, Panasonic, Ericsson and Motorola. One of the most recent investments is Flextronics, for $20 million in the state of Jalisco. This firm has more than 17 years in the country and has presence in Guadalajara, Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua,  Tijuana, Aguascalientes and Coahuila.

According to data from Promexico, the value of electronic production is expected to grow 35 percent by 2020, to reach 87 thousand 608 million dollars, compared to the 64 thousand 764 million estimated to have closed in 2014.



Intel for its part inaugurated a development center in Guadalajara, Jalisco through an investment of close to 173 million dollars. Other firms such as Panasonic, Motorola, Hewlett-Packard and Ericsson have also opted to expand their operations by investing in their production facilities in the country.
